The pole doesn't fit in the base and there were NO SCREWS in the box. Unlike Tom I am not handy and will not file it down to make it fit. Nor will I go out to buy small screws. However, there were two factory issues which were quite frustrating and totally careless. There is very little assembly required, you basically just have to insert the pole on the base and tighten three screws. HOWEVER, the three screw holes were incorrectly drilled at the factory and as a result there were large attached metal pieces on the inside of each hole which had to be filed down with a metal file before I could actually put the pole on the base. I had to drive to Lowes and buy a metal file to do this. Second, the three small screws that were then supposed to go in the holes to secure the lamp to the base were completely missing from the box. I checked and the box had not been opened and re-sealed, so it must have come this way from the manufacturer.
